| 07/31/2006 3:59 PM - Adam-Fest | |
Adam is a huge rock/metal/PUNK fan who loves horror movies and HotPicks. He is 22 but when he was 18 and in his senior year of H.S. he was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma which is a blood cancer which is found in your lymphatic system/white blood cells. He has under went extensive chemo treatments until his cancer became resistant which then brought him to 28 days of high dose radiation treatments. The treatment for his cancer has lead to many other health problems... one is the fact that he has a tumor the size of a mans fist wedged between his heart and sternum. The other big problem is that the radiation palalyzed his vocalcords and burnt up his salvation glands which then lead to tooth decay and later the loss of most of his teeth. He has had two major surgeries in his mouth to try and repair the damage and now needs a third surgery. His medical coverage is deining him cover for anything outside of his tri-monthly scans and oncology visits... because they have flagged him as terminal.Adams Mom started ADAMFEST to raise money for a possible Bone Marrow Transplant that will more than likely happen in his future. Each surgery is $30,000.00. Each ADAMFEST has raised nearly $7000.00 with $2000.00 used to run the event... rental of the amphitheater, rental for a ryder truck to carry all sound equipment, t-shirt printing etc.... Hillbilly Deathride have played all ADAMFEST's and an additional benefit show held for him at one of the local bars. They and Adam's uncles band Stone Ka-Tet, opened for Trivium who did a 21st birthday celebration show in honor of Adam's birthday. HotPicks is proud to be a sponsor of ADAMFEST and help Adam all that we can.

| 07/28/2006 12:07 PM - Skyler Neil Memorial - Northshore Cruefest | |
Anyone who is a fan of Motley Crue is sure to know of the tragedy that befell Crue frontman Vince Neil in August of 1995. After losing his daughter to pancreatic cancer, Vince founded the Skylar Neil Memorial Fund in her honor. Years later, a handful of Crue fans put their money where their mouth is and organized a three-day party to meet the people behind the mayhem that is "SHOUT" and celebrate the life of this little girl. The idea of a "CrueFest" was born from many different fans on the message board as a reason to converge on Cleveland, Ohio and spend some cash for charity. This event has an originator who lives and breathes for this cause and she never lets the CrueFest patrons down, providing quality entertainment year after year. Not only does she manage to collect the hottest (autographed) raffle items for all 3 days of the event, she has managed to get Neil Wharton, son of Vince Neil, to attend and host the shows. The event is for charity, but who says charity can't be fun, right?!? With Motley Crue having just spent the last 14 months touring the world on their Better Live Than Dead & Carnival Of Sins, Northshore Cruefest 2006 is sure to be THE place to be in August! So take a look around, check out some photos from Cruefests past and read about last year's event.... you'll not want to miss Northshore Cruefest 2006! In the words of Vince Neil LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!

| 07/28/2006 11:13 AM - Hot Picks Endorsee Ernie Carletti joins Iced Earth | |
Gilbertsville, PA - (July, 2006) Elkton, MD resident Ernie Carletti has garnered the position of lead guitarist for Iced Earth, an established American heavy metal band that is preparing for a forth-coming full-length album and subsequent world tour.
Mastering his craft beyond 19 years and teaching guitar lessons to 100 students weekly in excess of 16 years, Carletti is equally versed in styles such as Classical and Jazz but his first love is Heavy Metal "shredding". The central figure of Iced Earth is guitarist and songwriter Jon Schaffer who originally formed the band as Purgatory in 1984. Though the band has undergone numerous line-up changes since its inception, Schaffer has remained steadfast in his passion to thrash. Schaffer officially announced the addition of Carletti on the band's message board on Friday June, 30. "After auditioning some very good guitar players I've made a decision. The man who will be handling the majority of the guitar solos on the next record as well as touring with us on 'The Wicked World Tour' is an awesome player named Ernie Carletti," said Schaffer. "He is a world class player and truly one of the best guitarists I've had the pleasure of meeting and hanging with. We're going to make a good team, I'm sure." |
